Born in Birmingham in June 1962, Steve's career started in the school playground where he started doing impersonations of the teachers and television stars of the day. At the age of 14 he was upsetting the neighbours by learning to play the drums!
In 1980, at the tender age of 18, his showbiz career began when Steve played drums in a comedy show band, touring this country and abroad for the very first time.
In 1985 Steve joined with another impressionist to form a successful comedy duo, and after encouragement from friends and family Steve decided to go it alone in 1987.
Within a few months Richard Holloway, producer of New Faces of '88, spotted him and invited him to appear on the show. Steve won his heat, both in the studio vote and the telephone vote, and went on to appear on live television on the all winners final.
Around this time he discovered golf. He became, and still is, a golf nut. This came in very handy later in his career, as he now participates in many golf day functions.
Steve was back on television in 1995 when Carlton Television brought back the popular impressionists show "Who Do You Do".
After his win on New Faces, valuable experience was gained in every aspect of his business. Theatre tours with the Drifters, summer seasons for Butlins and Haven Warner, Clubs the length and breadth of the country, corporate entertaining, sporting dinners, gold clubs all variety of after dinner entertaining.
All this was to provide Steve with invaluable experience in how to tailor his material to suit the audience in front of him. Steve's talents have taken him as far a field as Singapore, Belize, Germany, and Monte Carlo.
